CHRISTINE & THERON HIXSON, Garland, Texas

Theron (from Tennessee) and Christine (from England) met at a singles square dance in Texas in 1980 and were married in 1985.   They graduated from round dance lessons in 1982, and in 1985 they became members of the Dallas Let’s Dance Exhibition Group, during which time they did demos at many local, State, and National square and round dance events.

They began cueing and teaching regularly in August 1989.  They have served on staff at Fun Valley, Red River, and Kirkwood, and have been featured instructors at weekend festivals all over the country. They have been the club cuers for Rebel Rousers since February 1990.  They are also club cuers for Stone Steppers in Mesquite, and regularly cue for Cotton Pickin’ Squares in Greenville.  They are instructors for Ramblin’ Rounds Round Dance Club, Carousel Club #342, and the Harvest Holiday Festival Association, and teach all levels of rounds from beginning lessons through Phase VI.

They are members of Roundalab, International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association, Texas Round Dance Teachers Association, Dixie Round Dance Council, and North Texas Callers Association.  They served as Directors for Programmed Rounds for the National Square Dance Convention held in San Antonio in 1996; and have served on the Phase IV and V Roundalab ROQ committees for a number of years.

Christine & Theron have choreographed a number of dances, including:  Hold on Partner, You Make My Pants Want to Get Up and Dance, Both Sides Now, Happy Go Lucky Me, Sentimental Ol’ You, That’s Life, Rebel Rouser, Winter or Fall 3, What Do I Do With Me, All The Way Home, and Teacher’s Pet IV.

Theron & Christine reside in Garland with Pecan, their Shih Tzu, who regularly accompanies them to their square and round dance events.
